Munich’s New Synagogue

September 11, 2006 Jews were welcomed back to Munich with a procession of Torah scrolls and the dedication of a new downtown Synagogue. It replaces the one Hitler personally ordered destroyed as an “eyesore” in the center of his beloved city. This Synagogue is a House of Worship for approximately 10,000 Munich Jews.

It is the biggest Jewish cemetery in Europe. It has 180 thousand tombs and 65 thousand tombstones. It was founded in 1892 in Lodz, Poland. During the World War II the cemetery was used by the Nazis to execute 45,000 people. After the War it was called “The Ghetto Field.”

$100 Million Gift

Ronald P. Stanton gave a $100 million dollar gift to Yeshiva University. He hopes that other Jewish philanthropists will give major donations to Jewish causes in general and Yeshiva University in particular. September 26, 2006 Recent ordinations made without Vatican permission have placed Archbishop Milingo and the four new bishops he ordained under excommunication. Archbishop Milingo was formerly the Archbishop of Lusaka, Zambia in Africa.
